ROPE

As I mentioned earlier, the rope and the friend hold far deeper personal significance than just their traditional roles as climbing tools. This led me to look beyond their original functions and explore their broader meanings. I began to experiment by connecting more ropes, layering and intertwining them, creating a complex tapestry that goes beyond their utility in climbing. This process gave rise to a single, large piece composed of many intertwined ropes—something larger, more intricate, and more reflective of my own inner journey.

Through this exploration, I began to see the rope not just as a symbol of safety or connection in climbing, but as a metaphor for the intricate web of relationships, trust, and growth that define my life. The layers and interweavings represent the complexities of human experience—how everything is connected and how each thread plays a part in shaping who we are.

My goal is to continue expanding this concept, creating pieces that fill entire rooms, where ropes cascade and stretch across the space, enveloping the viewer. By decentralizing the rope from its practical use in climbing, I’ve reimagined it as a symbol of transformation and connection. It’s no longer just a tool for ascension, but a dynamic force that redefines space and experience, inviting others to reflect on their own journeys and the threads that bind them together.

"Imagine a world without ropes, lines, cables, and knots. No threads to weave fabric, no clothes to wear. No power lines, no phone wires. No bridges to cross, no ropes to keep you safe, no chains to secure your belongings. No yarn for knitting, no shoelaces to tie, no cables to provide electricity or connect to the internet........”
